Leica Summilux-C Production Increasing

To date CW Sonderoptic has produced over 150 sets of Leica Summilux-C lenses, which are now available locally in almost 40 countries worldwide. That adds up to approximately 1350 lenses.

Since production began about 5 years ago we have put into the market more than 1 lens per workday. This may not seem like a lot until you consider that each lens is assembled 100% by hand and includes between 18-22 individual elements, including multiple aspheric elements, and requires dozens of man-hours to assemble, clean, align, and calibrate into an optical masterpiece.

CW Sonderoptic started out as a boutique lens manufacturer, albeit with the rich 100+ year history of Leica Camera behind us. Now, after 5 years, the production of the Leica Summilux-C lenses is faster and more efficient than ever with a fine-tuned assembly process and strikingly consistent results. Demand for new sets of Summilux-C lenses is still remarkably high and we are proud to say that as we add new focal lengths (now up to 12) our manufacturing processes continue to ramp up to address this global demand.
