The Leica M (Typ 240), Leica M-P (Typ 240) and Leica Monochrom (Typ 246) are already impressive digital rangefinder cameras that delight photographers with their feel and performance. By enabling the use of traditional PL mount cine lenses, the cameras can now take on a powerful role for the cinematographer, both on set and on location scouts. From director’s viewfinder to reference photos to HD video and more, the Leica M PL Mount brings a lot to set in a little package.
Leica M series cameras using a full frame (24mm x 36mm) sensor, which is larger than the Super35 size that most cine lenses are designed for. This can result in vignetting with wider focal lengths and especially with older lenses.
Both cameras offer the minimalist design aesthetic that Leica has become known for combined with the incredible image quality of the Leica Max 24-Megapixel CMOS sensor in full frame format (24x36mm). Shoot stills in raw DNG and/or JPEG formats. Capture full HD 1080p video to .MOV files at 24fps, 25fps and 30fps using MJPEG compression and 4:2:2 color sampling at 100MB/s.
THESE CAMERAS FEATURE THE NATIVE LEICA M MOUNT WHICH IS COMPATIBLE WITH SOME OF THE BEST STILL PHOTO LENSES EVER CREATED.
