Leica Camera AG and CW Sonderoptic GmbH are proud to congratulate the winner of the La Semaine de la Critique short film competition and recipient of the Leica Cine Discovery Prize. Laura Ferrés, director of “Los Desheredados”, was awarded the top honors by the jury and will receive the €4000 prize.
“Los Desheredados” is a portrait of the director’s father facing the end of his family business. Lack of money forces him to drive clients who destroy his vehicle to bachelor parties, but he is not prepared to lose his dignity.
CW Sonderoptic GmbH managing director Gerhard Baier said, “Among all the wonderful short films in competition, Los Desheredados stood out as a fantastic example of compelling storytelling and creative imaging.”
“We are proud to award Laura Ferrés with the Leica Cine Discovery Prize and hope that it will help take her career to new heights”, said Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, majority shareholder and chairman of the supervisory board of Leica Camera AG.
Leica Camera and CW Sonderoptic are affiliate companies and together sponsor La Semaine de la Critique du Festival de Cannes which features and recognizes the work of new filmmakers.
